Sitting in the corner sewing away, with views out of the window of the Sierra Bermeja and the warm blue Spanish sky, there’s always a gecko not too far away, either scuttling up the wall or upside down on the ceiling watching intently and so, Oh Sew Gecko was created.
My name is Lisa and I have been sewing since an early age. Growing up in
the UK my love of sewing started when I was young helping my Mum with small sewing projects, and as I got older advanced to making my own children’s clothes when they were little, as well as my own home furnishings. Fast forward a few years, I found a love for bag making and cork fabric.
I now live in Andalucía, near the Los Alcornocales Natural Park where the Iberian cork trees grow, and I create patterns and one-of-a-kind bags and purses using cork fabric as the focus of my creations.
I create and sew cork fabric, bags, purses, and wallets, and I use quality fabrics and threads in everything I make. Cork fabric is a sustainable product that is also known as vegan leather, and it’s a fantastic replacement for leather, faux leather, and vinyl.
I work on bespoke items, as well as downloadable PDF patterns in my online shop. When I’m not sewing up a storm, I can be found at the local artisan markets selling my creations and chatting with the other local artisans.
If you would like to see my latest patterns or what I’m up to at the moment, pop over to Instagram or Facebook. If you would like to learn to sew with cork fabric, why not join my sewing group The Cork Fabric Sewing Corner all sewing levels are welcome, from complete beginner to advanced. I look forward to seeing you there!
